In order to support you writing articles on OracleCS, this article gives some guidance for the WYSIWYG (What You See Is Wat You Get) editor used to enter your text. This editor is a kind of wrapper on the HTML code, the standard language for Internet pages that most functional consultant don't master Tongue out, to simplify editing.

Editor Publishing Metadata

Editor

The Editor section displays editing icons. It's not as complete as Word, but most of the buttons look familiar hopefully ...

Four buttons are available below the text area.

Read_more...

This button inserts a red line in your text. This influences the behavior on the Front Page. Only text above the line is shown on the Front Page, and a 'Read more' button is added automatically (this button is only visible on the Front Page, not in the Article itself). The dotted line itself is not visible in the published Article, only in edit mode. Usage is mandatory for long articles for the Front Page.
Link_Article

This button can be used to insert a link to another published Article.
Link_Document

This button creates a link to previous uploaded Documents, available under the Download menu.
Layout

This button gives the possibility add additional styling to your Article, e.g. popup images.

Publishing

In the Publishing area, select the right Section and Category.

If you want your Article to be shown on the Front Page, indicate it here.

Metadata

The area Metadata can be left empty. If you like you can enter here a summary and keywords, which can be useful for search engines.

Styling

To apply styling to your content use the following text between in your content, with format {styling}This is your text{/styling}

The following styling codes can be applied:

  • alert

this is an alert

  • info

Thumbnails

Before a thumbnail can be created, the image needs to be uploaded. Click on the Insert/Edit image button. The Image Manager appears. Click on the Upload button, and upload your image. Click on the image, and note that the URL is populated with the path to the image. Note that your username is part of the URL. This ensures that your images will not be mixed up with other Member's images. Copy this path, and click cancel. You are back in your Article.

Click on the Layout button and select category Images. Then select Image thumbnail. The following text will be inserted (please read 'rokbx' as 'rokbox')

{rokbx title=|your description|}images/upload/yourusername/image.jpg{/rokbx}

Change the description and paste the image path.

In the published Article, this line will be interpreted and replaced by a thumbnail automatically. Clicking on the thumbnail will show a popup screen with the image in full format!

Approval process

All Articles need to be approved before they are published. This is a manual process, performed by the administrator. Saving your Article means that you submit it for approval !

Once approved, you can edit your own Articles anytime you like.
